Pearl & Copper Herringbone Weave Bracelet & Necklace Set

In recent times I have not done a lot of wire wrapping. I don’t know why. Probably because I have spent a lot of time exploring new ideas for making necklaces and chains using Kumihimo braiding. More about that later…

But I have started playing with wire again. Inspired by my friend Sheri in Canada I made a Herringbone Wire Weave style Bracelet and Earrings Set. Its something I did a little bit of ages ago, then put it away. I was not satisfied with how it looked and put it away to come back to it later. The later never happened! Well it has now!

This is my first attempt – its copper wire and 8-9mm freshwater pearls. Not bad for a first attempt if I say so myself

I am really excited

A selection of my jewellery is now available for sale at The Stamford Tourist Information Centre & Gift Shop at the Stamford Arts Centre.

That’s the Stamford Artisans Guild Summer Craft Fair out of the way.  I think we all had a good day. Some of the comments from the stall holders made me feel so good As the event organiser I was worried…

So what do we have to look forward to now over the next couple of months?

Craft Fayre at The Big Barn, Top Lodge, Fineshade Woods -  I love my monthly visits to Fineshade Woods. Great atmosphere, meeting friends, a good gossip and lots of beautiful dogs! It’s always a Saturday well spent. I will be ta Fineshade on Saturday, 7th August & Saturday, 4th September 2010

Arts and Crafts Fair at Barnsdale Gardens – 29 August 2010 – I am awaiting more details about this event and will update once I know. I do know that several; Stamford Artisans Guild members will have stalls at this event. I will be in my gazebo somewhere in the gardens but have not been informed the full details yet.

The Green Dragon, Brigstock – 30 August 2010 – Bank Holiday Monday – Our friend Mark is the boss and head chef at this beautiful Restaurant & Inn which dates back to the 18th century. The Green Dragon has been recently refurbished and has a really comfortable atmosphere. The Green Dragon is now proposing monthly craft events for local craftspeople to showcase their talent. The stalls will be in the Car park, garden area and also a few stalls indoors. Mark has kindly extended an invitation to members of the Stamford Artisans Guild too and I have confirmed my participation. If other local artists and makers are interested in being there please contatc me by leaving a comment on this page and I will send you more details.

Gardener’s Market at Easton Walled Gardens – 10.00 am -4.00 pm - Sunday 12th September 2010 – This will be my first visit to Easton Walled Gardens and I am quite looking forward to it. I have a chat and a laugh with the ladies on Twitter and it would be good to finally meet up.

Stamford Artisans Guild Autumn Craft Fair – 26th September 2010 at my favourite venues of all – The Stamford Arts Centre. I WILL be there – Stamford’s own hand-made shopping event for talented local craftspeople and selected visiting artisans.

My next big event is the Stamford Artisans Guild Summer Craft Fair on 25 July at the Stamford Arts Centre.

I was at the May Craft Fair too but on that day I was a victim of Iritis and it was not a good day at all so I am really looking forward to this one!

Collaboration Women Wednesday Blog Hop – Week 10

I have two new events to look forward to at the Week-end

The Stamford Military Tattoo in Support of HELP FOR HEROES is on 19th June 2010 at the Stamford Rugby and Sports Ground, Empingham Road. The Military Tattoo will feature the Band of the RAF Regiment and displays by local RAF and Army Units. Most importantly it is a fund-raising event for Help For Heroes and I do hope everyone comes to make this a Really Special Day.

The Event is being organised by the Rotary Club of Stamford and promises to be a fantastic Afternoon and Evening out for individuals and families. The Rotary Club very kindly invited members of the Stamford Artisans Guild to have craft stalls on the day and I am so proud to be part of this initiative by the Guild. All Stall fees will be donated to the Cause and I will make a donation of 10% of all sales proceed on the Day to Help For Heroes as well. I am really looking forward to a good response and I hope all of you in Stamford area will come and support us.

My very dear friend Tukata Bird ( Tuk Tuk Foods, Stamford) and her assistant Mark will be cooking up some fresh and delicious Thai Food on the day. And we’ve been promised home-made Cup-Cakes by Tukata’s daughter Sally. I am really looking forward to this

And another of my dear friends Amanda Clarke of Greensleaves Florist will be there as well supporting the cause. Amanda is making fresh flower posies for the chief guests and that is so kind of her.

Other craftspeople you can expect to see are The Crafty Pair, Fell From Grace, Jewellery & Accessories by Julie-Anne, Maureen Lacey the portrait Lady and a couple of other supporters whose confirmations I am still waiting for.

And then on 20th June (Father’s Day) we will be at Sacrewell Farm with our crafts and doing a demonstration of Rock Tumbling and Wire Tree Sculptures. Thank you Helen & Zanny (The Crafty Pair) for this initiative.
